Destination descriptions researched and written by Vicki Meade

Excerpt

Cabo San Lucas, at the extreme tip of the Baia California Peninsula, has evolved over the past half century from a sleepy fishing village to a high-energy playground on the Sea of Cortez—a body of water with sealife so diverse that Jacques Cousteau called it the "aquarium of the world." The four-stoplight town, with a population of less than 25,000, is located along a 20-mile stretch of coast known as Los Cabos, one of Mexico's most popular tourist destinations. Cabo San Lucas—or "Cabo" to regulars—can be whatever vacationers want: a romantic hideaway for couples, an adventure land for active families, a party town for singles, a mecca for enthusiasts of water sports, fishing, golf, nightlife, fine dining, and people watching. With a year-round temperature of 78 degrees, Cabo is the perfect escape from winter's chill.
